Packages

While I often use most of the packages listed below I only keep a few at the newest release (unless something breaks): ipython, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, and healpy. These packages often have very useful feature additions and bug fixes. The other packages are reasonably stable and thus I just keep the stable version. When I install new releases I will try and make notes if anything has changed in the corresponding posts so check near the end of posts for “Updates.”

All packages are installed using a prefix directory defined in the environmental variable EXTDIR. More information on he overall setup can be found here. Below is a list of the packages I have installed and written some brief instructions explaining how I went about the installation process:
The basic build order should be something like as follows:

  1. Python 2.6
  2. fftw
  3. cfitsio
  4. ROOT
  5. boost
  6. ipython
  7. coords
  8. lapack
  9. ATLAS
  10. numpy
  11. scipy
  12. matplotlib
  13. pyfits
  14. pyminuit2
  15. healpy
  16. Hippodraw
  17. CLHEP
  18. CRPropa
